Nurten Karagözoğlu

Karagözoğlu was born 1950 in Istanbul, where she already connected to the
art of painting in Aliye Berger’s atelier in the "Narmanlı Han" during her
high school years. Between 1986 and 1995 she worked in the Halil Dikmen
Gallery of the Istanbul Paintings and Sculpture Museum, which was managed at
the time by Prof. Nuri Temizsoylu. During this period, she took part in
various group exhibitions and showed her first personal exhibition. 1992 her
painting "Doğanın Huzuru" (Nature's Ease) was awarded among the best works
of the 6th Tekel Painting Contest and shown in 25 Turkish cities in one
year.
Due to her husband's work Nurten moved to Izmir-Urla
in 1995, where she continued her auto- didactic work in her newly set up
atelier and home gallery, opening some personal exhibitions. They moved
again in 1998, this time to Denizli, carrying out her work all over the
Denizli Province. She showed her independent work in the Art Gallery of the
Denizli Chamber Theater for the benefit of the Denizli ADD.
In 2001 she settled in Izmir/Selçuk, in the Village
of Şirince and opened the Şirince Art House to continue her work. She also
shared her paintings with art lovers with a permanent exhibition in the
gallery of the Art House.
Her work was judged "worthy of quality in art" by
the jury of the 9th September University commissioned by the
Izmir Province Culture Department of the Ministry for Culture and Tourism
and she was granted the “Artist Certificate” on the 30th January
2003.
Since 2009 Nurten continues her paintings at home in
Kuşadası.
