Emel GülsoyShe has been graduated from the Middle East Technical University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences in Ankara in 1971. She started painting when she was in high school and since 1982 onwards she continued with it successively in the atelier of Ankara Devlet Resim Heykel Muzesi (State Art Museum) and the studios of famous Turkish painters as Orhan Cetinkaya, Kayihan Keskinok and Haluk Evitan. She now paints in her own workshop. Being a member of Ankara Women Painters Association, she has participated in the mixed exhibition of the above mentioned club and studios. She has also organized five individual exhibitions.Nature is one of her pet subjects. Autumn and autumnal colors have a magical effect on her. Always being conscious of fact that even sadness can encompass beauty she tries to reflect the poignant feelings that arise, whilst taking care to put light and balance in perspective.Oil painting, acrylic, tar, charcoal pencils and sometimes an amalgam of several all these are the materials she uses.She likes to create different textures on the surface she works with and she likes Claire obscure / cameieu technique. All these materials and techniques come together on surfaces ranging from canvas to sack making her each and every time go on a journey full of adventures.
